Wayne Ulanski is a prolific singer/songwriter with well over 600 songs in his catalog.
Brown the CousCous is a band he formed soon after the release of his album “Another Passin’ By” and has evolved to serve as a platform for some of the area’s best musicians.
Featuring a catalog of both cover and original music their performances today highlight some of their best works and plenty of crowd-pleasers.
Emerging from the bustling music scene in Long Beach, California, Brown The CousCous has performed at many venues throughout the Southland.

So- How did we get our name?
During the Covid crisis, we were no longer performing at some of the local venues and open mic nights. Life had changed dramatically and it was all happening just as we were gathering momentum as a band. It was during those days that we made plans to set up a stage area in our driveway to perform for our neighborhood on a weekly basis.
To remain safe from “The Vid” we subscribed to a meal delivery service that provided everything we needed to do our own cooking. Some of the meals were simple and easy to prepare and some were more exotic. In all cases the art of cooking was a real learning experience for us.
It was on a Sunday morning that my wife and I had a discussion about the need to name our band. We felt that it might be a good idea to have a name that captured the Covid Year. I suggested, “The Vid”, but decided that it was not very memorable. So, we spent the rest of the day working quietly on our chores, resting a spell and all the while contemplating a band name.
As dinner time approached, Jen opened up our box of dinner “fixin’s” and then broke the silence of the day by reading aloud the first step in that day’s recipe; Step One: “Brown The CousCous”
“That’s it!” I exclaimed. “That is a perfect name for our band.”
Jen was a bit perplexed about my sudden outburst of enthusiasm so I, once again, stated, “Brown The CousCous will be our band’s name.”
I liked it. Afterall, I learned, it was not as “bad” as the names for some other bands.
